Original Problem
This legacy security thread is about importing an IPSec policy and then discovering that the expected Windows controls were not available on the user's system.
Its standalone value comes from the narrow mismatch it preserves: the support path depended on which Windows edition the user had, and the same instructions did not apply cleanly across XP Home, XP Pro, and Vista.
Selected Useful Comments
- A follow-up says the same problem appeared on fully updated XP Home because the user could not find
Local Securityat all. - The support replies explicitly distinguish XP Home from XP Pro and note separate uncertainty about Vista.
Editor Context
This page is tightly tied to old Windows editions and old security-policy interfaces, so the historical mismatch is more useful than the old step list itself.
