Default Cache

Jim,
I was reading
"35| WP-Cache is not recommended for the latest versions of WordPress. I haven’t personally used Super Cache, so you will have to ask the author, Donncha, for information on how it works. Cache is built into the most recent versions of WordPress automatically. If you are using an old version of the wp-config file, you may have to update this information. Check with the new file version." - Lorelle VanFossen "

here http://lorelle.wordpress.com/2007/09/22/the-3-easiest-ways-to-speed-up-wordpress/

What do you think ?

Roger

Default Wordpress Speed Tips

That is a must read for anyone with a wordpress site and a great find Roger!

The Wordpress speed tips cover reducing database calls and wp-cache, but with super-cache, you end up serving static pages.

The big point was that depending on the server configuration, the memory set aside for db calls may be faster than the speed of the disk, but that no matter what, an all static file is always faster than a file with calls.

Best regards,

Jim.

Default

Jim,
So are you agreeing that I should use super-cache instead of wp-cache, and if your answer is yes, what about "Cache is built into the most recent versions of WordPress". That would suggest to not use either. Where do I look to be sure which caching I have?

Roger

Default WP Super Cache

Hi Roger,

I'm not sure what type of caching is done in Wordpress - if you look at what people are saying about wp super cache (http://wordpress.org/tags/wp-super-cache), perhaps there might be more information? I have not looked yet, just grabbed the link.

Best regards,

Jim.
