I found in vista32 that the limit I could go up to is 1024 exactly. Anything over that and I got that error. Also, in order to go over 700 I could only open it in Firefox.

hi jim

Thanks for coming back to me.

Just to let you know i have discovered something in the IE Advanced settings that i never ever go into. I saw in there the Java settings and just below it says use JRE 1.6.0_05 for Applet (requires restart).

I turned off this option and i no longer got the message i was getting earlier.... a bit of a fluke here as i dont know what that tick box was actually for.

I will have a dabble in a bit again with it.

Thanks

Simon

Let me know if that helps.

Default Sitemap Generator -Xmx256m

Try -Xmx256m and see what happens. Have you tried it without anything at all?

Best regards,

Jim.

Hey there - thank you for the quick response.

i will try 256 now - but why would it work better with less memory being allocated?

I will also try again with nothing in there. Forgot to mention that im running windows vista if that matters?

I also tried it on a much smaller site and was in and out very quickly.

Great tool though.

Default Going right to the Sitemap Generator.

You are correct, for some reason when I read your post, I read it as a not enough memory error, etc... Long day....

As for the error, besides trying another browser (I wish I had never made this using Java), try rebooting your computer, then type in http://www.auditmypc.com/xml-sitemap.asp into your browser and see what happens.

I have no idea why this is happening to you and this is all I can think of right now.

Please let me know what happens.

Thanks,

Jim.

Default Memory and a Huge Site

I'm trying to create a sitemap for a dynamic site that easily represents half a million pages. Yes, I know that's not going to work with Google et al., but I want this sitemap for internal use.

For some reason, I can't go above -Xmx840m despite the fact that my laptop has 3GB of memory (running XP Pro, Firefox 2.0.0.20, Java Standard v.6 Update 11, build 1.6.0_11-b03). The spider runs for a while and then starts complaining about insufficient memory. I try garbage collection, and get a little more out of it before it stops. I then save the project, kill Firefox, restart Firefox and reload the project, and can continue on, adding a few MB to the saved project each iteration.

I see that others are able to use 1024 and 2048 as memory sizes, so I'm wondering what is preventing me from also using these sizes. I'm going to try upgrading Firefox to 3, but somehow I don't think it's a Firefox problem.

The site isacinet.org.

Thanks in advance for any help.
