Hey Steve,
Looks like that would do the trick, but I would make sure you are using the encrypted option and use caution, let me explain.
What the TOR Project is doing is using computers from around the world to hide your data. It is routed through many computers and by the time it gets to the destination address, it shows up as another person’s IP address.
This works great but it also means that other people get to hide their ID and appear as you, no? (I have not used this software, so I’m assuming it goes both ways).
What if a hacker was trying to hide their ID and it just happened to be your computer that was picked to carry out the transaction?
So, to sum it up – great idea, just make sure you are using encryption and look for a way to prevent others from using your connection while still being able to use the system – I know this goes against the concept, but it may be more safe this way.
A fun little project would be to install the software on your system, use Wireshark (search my forum for information / instructions on this) and capture packets that come across the line to see exactly what is happening! Would you see other peoples data? or asked another way, could they see yours?
Hope that helps!
Best regards,
Jim.
Yes, from my reading it does go both ways. Thanks for the cautions.
Might play with it a little if I have the time. I will give you an update if I do.
