Default Caller id spoof

The last thing I want is people to be calling my home phone, cell phone or business numbers for issues I could handle over email. I have been looking for a caller id spoof that would allow me to receive calls and customize my own voice mail.

The right service would also let me spoof caller id so that it would appear I am from another state. I would also like the system to email me or my cell phone when I have a message and in that email, I would like a audio file of the message so I can play it on my computer.

Even better would be the ability to call the person back, a caller id spoof that would look like I am calling them from the number they attempted to contact me at. Oh, and to top it all off, I would like it to be free or cost almost nothing at all.

Guess what! I found just such a caller id spoof service and it is 100% free! If you check to see who owns this site, you will see a phone number attached that is based in Athens, TN which is far away from my home.

It is all made possible from private phone, located at http://www.privatephone.com/

I looked very hard and could not find any catch to this free caller id spoof and voicemail service, they even give you 10 minutes of free call back time! It’s part of NetZero and here is what I think is going on.

Netzero’s dial-up service is dying and they have all these access lines around the U.S. so why not utilize these lines and create a free service of spoofing and voicemail – Ok, so perhaps I should not use the word spoof, but rather free phone number.

Perhaps at some point, they will integrate ads, charge a fee for the service or keep it free but offer upgraded services at a cost. Either way, it’s worth checking out and a great way to screen your calls can keep your important numbers for those that you trust.

Caller id spoofing was never easier

Default Packet8

So much for this caller id spoof, I logged in today and received this message:

PRIVATEPHONE SERVICE WILL BE ENDING ON DECEMBER 15, 2007

You can keep your PrivatePhone number by transferring your service to our partner, Packet8. We have worked out a special deal with Packet8 to transfer your number to their phone service at a special price. If you decide to transfer your service, you can keep your current phone number and will be able to use it to make and receive calls. We recommend that you transfer your PrivatePhone number as soon as you can to avoid any interruptions in service.

Note: If you transfer your PrivatePhone number, you will be signing up for a pay service with another service provider, and will no longer be affiliated with PrivatePhone in any way.

When you visit Packet8, I get this:

Special Welcome Offer for NetZero Voice Subscribers

Sign up for Packet8 digital phone service and receive discounted pricing - just $19.99/month! Then, as you read the fine print, you get this:

DISCONNECTION AND CONVERSION FEES. Subsequent to the expiration of the Trial Period, if an End User terminates fax or voice Services within twelve (12) months of the initial purchase of the Services, 8x8 shall charge a service Disconnection Fee of fifty nine dollars and ninety nine cents ($59.99) for each Virtual Office extension and nine dollars and ninety nine cents ($9.99) for Softalk Office extension. If an End User terminates a Plus Extension or converts to a non Plus Extension within twenty four (24) months of the initial purchase of the Services, 8x8 shall charge a Disconnection or Conversion Fee of one hundred dollars ($100.00) for each Plus Extension. Disconnection or Conversion Fees shall be billed to End User's Credit Card when End User notifies 8x8 of the cancellation of the Services.

RATE CHANGES. 8x8 may change the prices for the Services and toll charges from time to time. 8x8 may change prices, plans, taxes or fees without any advance notice. In the event of a change in prices or toll charges, 8x8 will post such changed rates to the web site currently located at http://www.packet8.net. International toll calling rates are updated monthly on the first of each month and no other notice shall be provided for changes to international toll calling rates.

Oh well, I thought I had found a great service that would not only provide me a free phone number, but hide my caller ID and afford me a bit of privacy. I’m not up to paying $19.00, termination fees, price changes and having it all tied to my credit card!

I think GrandCentral will please you.
It's a Google service so maybe it will stick around for a while.

Default There is help!

Hello My name is Chrissy I am new to this site, I saw your post about wanting to find a free service to offer you Anonymous call forwarding from any state so that you can safely do business over the phone or anywhere else for that matter.

Over the past few years I have done alot of research on SSL and the technology of spoofing and anonymous incoming numbers as well as the company's in which provide such services. Over the years I have found some to be scams and some to work well.

The best one on the net is Numbr, They will allow you to have as many numbers in as many states as you need, They have voicemail, voicemail to email, they can forward to a cell or home number...(when the person calls you the system will call you and tell you they are calling then ask you to push one if you want to talk to them or if you choose not to talk to them, they dont know....they just go straight to voicemail) You can also set the call screener to where they record a greeting before being transferred to you as an added layer of security. People can call you as often as they want to and no charges apply....And in most cases you can make it a local call for them. (Incoming long distance calls that were routed through another area code for ex: you are in WA but get a MI forward number and someone from MI calls you then you are limited to 30 minutes per call but as many calls as you want) And if ran through reverse search all numbers show as landlines in the state that they are from ex; you are in AL but get a FL forward number...reverse search would show you in FL. Theres more but I think you get the idea.

Thanks and if I can help let me know.

Chrissy

AND ITS 100%FREE only one catch....You have to renew your number every 30 days.
