I’ve used your Sitemap tool today to re-crawl all my client’s sites. On some I would receive an error in the Sitemap details. After fixing the error, I would go back to your program and click Retry failed. The error would remain. What am I missing in the program that would remove the error. I can delete the error, but I was thinking that the Retry would do the same thing.
Great tool. I went ahead and purchased you a Lobster Gift Certificate.

That gets my attention Jtech
Say that you have a 404 error, file missing, and you fix that and create that file, the error should go away.
However, say that you referenced a file on a page that was not there (a link to a page that didn’t exist) and you retry the errors, it will still report an error. It won’t remove the non-existant page by itself.
If you want to make sure all the errors are fixed, create a new project with with same url and you’ll have a fresh start.
If you rerun the project without creating a new one, then it will remember the invalid urls and still report them even though you have deleted them.
I hope that helps!
Hey – and thanks for the gift. I’ll use that tonight!
Let me know if you need anything else – I monitor this forum, but it’s low on my priority list as of late (not that I want it that way, but because it has to be that way…) – You were cool enough to buy me dinner, so I’ll keep an eye out for you…
Have a great day!
Jim.
Hi Jim,
Thanks for the quick reply. That is what I did for two projects was to go ahead and create the project over again. I will use that approach for all future projects. It’s still very quick to create a new project.
Thanks again for the great program. I’ve tried so many other programs to create the sitemap file, but yours is by far the easiest to use and understand.
Jim J.
Glad it’s working out for you and thanks for the kudos Jim!
