Hello there, I want to get proxo, but the download link just takes me back to the security page and I am confused
. I’m not usually this stupid, can anyone explain where I can get it from, I don’t want to use a proxy server, they are in my experience really slow – hence I want the tool that just prevents my data being looked at.
Many thanks in advance
Henry

Hello Henry,
The link is at the bottom of this auditmypc.com/proxomitron.asp proxomitron page. I tested it and it works fine.
Let me know if you still have problems.
Regards,
Jim.
Hi there Jim, thanks for getting back to me.
I couldn’t find the proxo page via anything but google – In my experience the link to it (or what I think is the link to it)
On page auditmypc.com/web-security-resources.asp?cat_id=36
Link: – Hide w Proxo – A must have!
Takes you back to the home page. I found the page you sent the link to via google anyways, but I couldn’t get the prog to work – I am running firefox and I set it to connect via localhost port 8080 llike it said – the internet worked fine, but I tried your anon test again and got the same results. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks
Henry
You found an old (very old) link and I want to thank you – I would not have found it had you not mentioned it!
I’ve corrected the link.
Let me know if you need help in setting up proxo – I think you’ll love it!
Best regards,
Jim.
Hey, glad to be of help and particularly that the DL was wrong and I’m not crazy.
I can’t get proxomitron to work – I have changed my connection to local host, port 8080 and aside from preventing me to login properly, it doesn’t seem to do anything – your anon test still gets everything
Which frankly is scaring me. Help would be appreciated!
Hey – I have had a little success – it says that I am passing some of the auditmypcanon test, but it still shows by private network IP as well as showing me my town, which is freaky as.
Also – when going through proxo when trying to login to this site, I get this error: –
In order to accept POST request originating from this domain, the admin must add this domain to the whitelist.
You have made me paranoid enough to persevere with this! I have got Firefox v2.0.0.0.11, I run noscript, adblock plus dunno if that is relevant. thanks
Henry
Running Proxo with the Java off, you should not be seeing your private IP address. Are you sure you are running through proxo?
Try this rather than proxo – Go into firefox and disable java (not javascript) and see if that works – however, you won’t be able to run some of my tools if you do that.
As for this forum not coming up when using proxo, I’ll look into that.
Also – don’t forget to close all your browser windows after you make the changes.
Regards,
Jim.
Right – current internet settings mirror those found in the help file exactly – I even changed all the gopher proxy etc to the same. I have then turned off proxo whilst surfing and it stops being able to connect. I am definitely using it, having tried a custom (ie my own edited filter with kill all java applets) as well as level 3 and level 6 and default, you are still telling me my private IP (although on level 6 it doesn’t quite work – ie it just says iframe and if you click on it it says warning your private ip address is !) 3, default and custom all show it. All show my exact location as well as my isp address thing.
I really would like this to work!

Hi Henry,
I’ve traced your activity today on AuditMyPC.com and see that your browser is still running java (the last number of your private IP is 3).
So, in Firefox, under tools, options, content enable firefox, uncheck that.
Then close your browser window(s) and visit the site again.
Is it Firefox, right?
Regards,
Jim.
Sorry Jim
I hadn’t read your post about disabling Java, doing so did hide my Private IP address, however isn’t this quite a general approach and not very delicate? Would it not interfere with legit website functions?
However either way my accurate IP address and location is available, is there any way to change that? Can you recommend a proxy that doesn’t noticably slow down the connection? I really can’t get proxo to work
Yes I am running latest version of Firefox.
Thanks
Henry
No problem Henry and yes, it would! In IE, you can set it to prompt when executing java, in firefox, I don’t think they have that option – but there is a plugin and when I’m back from vacation on Monday, I’ll look for it.
Best regards,
Jim.
Thanks Jim, It does seem slightly mean of you to cause such panic and then not show me how to fix it!
Have an excellent holiday

IE or Firfox?
Your browser should be using 8080, then in proxo, under edit filters, choose web page (first one), look for Kill specific Java applets and check it.
save out your settings, close your browser and then take the anonymous test at:
auditmypc.com/anonymous-surfing.asp to find out if your information is being hidden.
Play with the browser type and notice how you can change / fool the results.
Let me know if that works.
Hello Henry,
If my memory serves me correctly, the plugin was noscript for firefox and is located here:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/722
The noscript plugin should allow you to stop java from running, but with sites you trust, you can add them to a whitelist.
Hope that helps – let me know if that solved the problem!
Best regards,
Jim.
Hello,
The plugin did well, however the Anonymous Test auditmypc.com/anonymous-surfing.asp
still goes with my city’s name
and other stuff, except of my web browser which it thinks is:
"Your UserAgent is being reported as:
Opera/5.02 (Windows 98; U) [en]"
…which is not mine. Good.
But even with maximum protection from The Proximitron, the Test can see my data :/ I have firewall ZoneAlarm – active and Antivirus Nod32 with maximum heuristics. Also Java blocked for the site auditmypc.com/.
What should I do then?
Best Wishes,
Peter.
