Trying to unzip the zip file, but says it’s corrupted.

I can get the download stats fine but the upload gets a "upload error" is there a port I need to make sure is open for this? or any other suggestions as to why this is not working?

OK…I finally give up after attempting to figure this out for the past 2 hours.
The speedtest is installed and activated. Start is clicked, connection is established, preparing for download test is displayed and then………. download error.

Thanks for a great product. Do you know of any way to log the results of the speed test to a file instead of just displaying them?

I currently use a wireless broadband connection and my ISP does not believe me when I say at certain times of the day the speed drops to well below dialup speeds. I am sure this is due to a lot of users, and probably some power users, all on at the same time.

I would like to set up a page that runs the speed test every n minutes and then logs the results. That way, I would have some empirical data to show the technicians. Thanks.

hi jim, tried to setup your speed test on a fedora core pc and when i checked the page it doesnt load the java. i already download an update version of java to Version 1.5.0 (build 1.5.0_11-b03)but still got problem…here’s the error i got from my java load: class speedometer.SpeedometerApplet.class not found.

I have the latest upgrade from Java and scripting is enabled,but the test does not appear on the page. The rest of the page is in tact but just a grey area where the test should be.
My brother suggested this test and I’ve used it before but all of a sudden it stopped loading.

I have successfully created a site with your software and the download test works great but the upload test does not seem to report the correct values. There are times when 20000 kbps will be reported and other times when 1024 kbps will be reported. The results are also reported immediately no matter how much data I set as the "uploadDataLength" parameter for the site. I have pasted the contents of my page below minus the actual site address since I don’t want alot of additional traffic to the site.

I also allowed the default web user account to have write access to WebUploads because I had thought that something would actually be written to the server but after changing it to just the main site address I still obtained the same results. Is this normal, and if so is there even a need for the uploadURL parameter?

I see that it is possible to download the reduced feature set speed test software; however, I am interested in the full feature set. Is that software available?

Up to now I have had a super connection, good speeds etc.

Within the last 4 days that has changed, I was refered to you guys from a forum in which I participate, to try and ascertain my current speeds.

When I try the test from

It either reports back that the test is INVALID or the CONNECTION timed out.

I have freed up the port 8500 for the test and allowed the passage through. Still nothing.

Any views or suggestions would be very helpful.

I used the audit my pc speed test, it works fine for some days and then it doesn`t work any longer. I don`t know why.

The speed test at http://www.elkhart.com/speedtest/speedtest.htm has two issues. First the ‘Run Tests’ icon has to be clicked twice before it will run the test. The second issue is that the upload graphic shows little if any progress of the test when it gives the speed and jumps to the download graphic. The download graphic shows full completion and then displays the speed value.

OK, it’s not really a plugin, but it is just as easy!

To install the Cool looking Broadband Test (Flash version) on your WordPress Blog, simply follow the instructions on that page.

For the Java Speed test (not the flash version with a speedometer), follow these instructions:

Here is how you put the free speed test utility found at Speed Test on your WordPress blog.

First, grab the zip file and general speed test instructions found at the link above.

Unzip the .jar file and place it into your wordpress main (root or base directory)

Create a directory called downloads and place the speedtesting.zip file inside it.

* Turn off the Rich Text Editor in WordPress by visiting Users, Personal Options and at the bottom of the page in the left hand corner you will see the box.

or, depending on your version of WP – Users, You Profile, and top left or lower corner you will see ‘use visual editor when writing’ (deselect it).

Create a post and paste the speed test applet code you found on the link above inside it.

That’s it, your visitors now have a quality utility to test their internet speed. I should also say that this script monetizes well!

You may also want to change the width to something link 450 to fit inside your wordpress post or page.

Oh ya – don’t forget to turn back on your rich text / visual editor once you know the speedtest is running.

I have installed the Applet as indicated on your site. But the Speed test is not showing the picture/buttons that your site says it should.

I have checked and rechecked. I also have reinstalled. Still the same – I shows blank where the control panel should be.

I have 1.5m dsl, Audit tested my speed and showed that result. So if according to that and other tests and what Im signed up for I have 1.5m download rate, why no matter what Im downloading, either a file off a website or a song, do I only get a max of 180ks?
