hello,
I heard that windows xp service pack 3 is coming out. My question is if you upgrade your xp sp2 to sp3 is it possible that your current files and application will stay or it will totally gone like a fresh install in os?
And it will much appreciated if you post also the links or guides on how to upgrade. Thanks…

Hello and welcome to the forum Myzani!
When you upgrade XP to SP3, everything should stay the same and it will not be like a new install. All you’ll need is the Windows update utility and you should be all set.
Just make sure you have a good backup before you start the Windows XP SP3 upgrade!
Best regards,
Jim.
Say, apologies for ‘raining on the parade’, but if the system is working well and doing what you need it to, plus you regularily back up your files to an external HD, and you either have unhackable encryption (ie PGP, etc), that or you don’t keep banking or other risky files on you system, then why in the world would you even risk messing it up with more bandaids on top of other bandaids? There comes a point when the system is so clogged with 10 times the things you don;t ever use and 100 times the patches and hot fixes that you likely only ‘needed’ 30% of them, that no machine in the world can cope with all that and not end up like molasses in the wintertime. Just my thoughts as I literally gave up after installing SP2, and what with normal to heavy use of the sytem, even going to risky sites as well, I’ve never got so much as malware, let alone a virus. A few apptempts at such, but my AS, AV and forewall has kept me safe and my system runs relatively quick (even after SP2′s sluggishness). Do you really think that MS will ever offer a perfect platform? Name me one company that provides us with anything that either doesn’t break or actually works right out of the box? And what do you suppose it is that motivates these companies to offer us ‘silk purses made out of sows ears’ (ie; especiially things we don’t need and don’t use)?
