Import your IPsec policy / Question

Hello

To begin with:
Thank you for your outstanding site, it really provides a wealth of useful information.

I have tried to import your IPsec policy, (http://www.auditmypc.com/ipsec-policy.asp) but my problem is that the local security icon does not exist on my XP :
administrative tools (start, settings, control panel), –>local security policy<–

Do you know how I can add this item to Windows (XP Home SP2)?

Kind regards

Brandon

I had the same issue and could not find "Local Security" either. I saw no further posts and wondered if there was a resolution to this?

I too use XP Home edition (fully updated).

    Anybody know the answer?

My neighbor has XP Home (I have pro), so I’ll try to get over there and play with this. Feel free to bump me in a day or two on this.

I also had someone ask about using the policy with vista.I played with IPsec on Windows Vista tonight and found that the IPsec is integrated with Windows Firewall and is a LOT easier to use and configure. I have not had time to create a base policy and export, but after a cursory review, the default firewall setting seems fine on Vista.
I have not played with this much, but once I do, I’ll upload a new policy if need be.

If you want to look at the settings you have, visit Windows Firewall with Advanced Security snap-in by starting with Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008 desktop, click Control Panel, click System and Maintenance, click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Windows Firewall with Advanced Security.

So – the IPsec I have works great with everything except Vista which is secure on it’s own – I still need to verify XP home.

    Regards,

    Jim.

Jim, did you ever get a chance to check on this for XP Home?

  4. AMPC says:

No, I have not and I am sorry. I will check with my neighbor in the morning to see if I can use his XP Home and play with the IPsec policy – everything I use and am near is Pro rather than home.

    Regards,

    Jim.
