How do I use Adsense?

I have been working hard to find the answer to this question. I P(postal)-mailed Google and they never wrote back.

Theres this very nice piece of informatio I found at Digg.com (I couldn’t get any exposure ther though.) Here’s the article – please read the third paragraph. http://www.thetechzone.com/?m=show&id=662

Here’s Google’s products

I can’t figure out which one of these Google business programs is used to earn money when someone uses Google at a person’s site and eventually buys something.

This is not just a Google convenience. I looked at the code for the Google search at sciencedaily.com
<!– SiteSearch Google –>

[code....]

<!-- SiteSearch Google -->

And it looks like Science Daily might be identified as the initial source of a buy using the search.

What do you think?

Thanks Jim,

Roger

    Jim,

I finally revisited the Google Adsense program. I did find the Google search box I was looking for in the Adsense Program. In the set up it asks me which three addresses I want to use. Is there a way to maximize this so effectively I can have it on every page of my site. Or maybe find a way to have visitors pass through a certain page with the search box to get to the page they were wanting – just guessing.

    Thanks,

Those three fileds I have to fill in Adsense for Google search with three web address, can they be three different sites and I can use them on every page of each site – or just three of any pages?

    Thanks,

    Roger

    Jim,

I guess I’ll stick with Google for now.

    Thanks,

You should not write off the YPN (Yahoo Publisher Network) program. They are secure and can be found here:

I highly recommend signing up with them!

Yahoo has fantastic customer service and they know how to treat their clients! Their payout is 2

Wow! I have never used that search box, but it is a lot like the search feature that website owners can place on their website. I always wondered how Firefox made its money, but I never imagined that the little box in the upper right hand corner made 50 Million!

As for your question on making money with Google products, it’s called Adsense. I have been with Google’s Adsense program from the very start; in fact, I created the first open source Adsense tracking script on the web (I just had to get that plug in)

Adsense is VERY simple! You simply apply to Google for an account, do that here:

You’ll most likely get accepted at which time you will log into your account and obtain your adsense code. It’s about 10 lines or so and works with any website. You stick that code on your site and when someone views it, ads appear, much like this:
(click on the [Ad on top] or [Ad on side] to see what an ad looks like. Don’t worry, that’s just an image of Google Ads, not the real thing, but it give you an idea).

If someone clicks on one of Google ads, you get money. It could be .05 cents or $5 depending on the topic.

Here is how it works. An advertiser, say a hospital specializing in Lasik Eye Surgery, tells Google they are willing to pay $10 every time someone clicks on a Google ad. Google then has you display an ad for Lasik Eye Surgery. A visitor on your site clicks the ad, Google receives $10 from the publisher, Google pays you $2 and pockets $8. The hospital get’s a new patient and makes $8,000. Everyone is happy.

It’s an automated process and they have it down to a fine art! There is a lot more to it, such as smart pricing, ad layouts, keywords, sandbox and so much more, but for now, let’s keep it basic.

Google also has code that will add a search box to your site and if someone clicks on a result from that search, you get money, like Firefox. That I think is the answer you are looking for.

There is a lot to getting everything just right, but I would be more than happy to help you learn to monetize your site if you promise to post your thoughts on the forum.

Also – YPN is an awesome program and NOT to be overlooked. I have also been with YPN program since it started and they are the most down to earth group of people to work with. Absolutely awesome Account Reps, Awesome Parties and fantastic service!

Both Google and Yahoo have their high payout areas, and you should join both!

So, go sign up for Google, then Yahoo at – both are free!

Let me know when you have the code and we’ll get going!

Jim, Thanks for the support !

I’ll try the ads first, eventhough I like the Search box. I’ll try to figure out how to restrict the ads. I don’t want my site to become the diarrhea and constipation specialist. I was planning on telling everyone I know to buy through Google search on my site whenever they buy something. I do need a fancy box to search my site. I’ll look up "site search code" on the search engines.

I’ll get working on the Yahoo PN.

Hey Jim, We got on the national news two days in a row for getting 8 feet of snow in Oswego county, upstate NY. We might get 10 feet when it’s all done. Must be that coming Ice Age Watch the national news tomorrow- I’m sure they’ll be reporting it again.

    Thanks,

    Roger

You can install Adsense on just the pages you want and this is where channels come in, so you’ll know how much each page brings in.

As for telling others to buy using your search, I would not do this. In their TOS (terms of service), google asks that you not tell people about your ads (draw attention to them in any way). If you start using adsense and it’s just your friends clicking, Google will know.

They are experts at tracking and they can tell where you are from, city, etc. If all your friends are in the same area, then all the clicks come from the same area and you may get kicked out of the program.

A good policy is to not tell anyone about your adsense. Just place it on your site and let it happen naturally – you will be sooooo happy down the road, trust me on this.

    10 Feet of snow! WOW!

I’m in Michigan (actually going skiing this morning) and we have plenty of it – not 10 feet. Many of our lakes are frozen over and the cities seem to have moved out onto the ice in shanties.

I’ll keep an eye on the weather in your area! 10 Feet sounds serious and I hope you have stocked up on food and supplies!

    Regards,

    Jim.

    Jim,

Jim how did these guys get both the Google ads and the Google search on their website? If I don’t use the google search, I still need a serarch function for my site.

    Thanks,

  9. AMPC says:

    Hi Roger,

You can use both, no problem, in fact, you could use one search, one Link Unit and three adsense boxes of any kind per page.

However, the more ads you use per page, the more impressions. Impressions are used to factor payout, so keep that in mind.

    Regards,

    Jim.
