Question Autodelivery

Jim,

I once bought some info on food allergies and after I paid, I received the info in a few seconds. Is auto delivery part of shopping carts?

Also, if I want to send info that can't be copied and pasted, is Adobe Acrobat the only real way?

Thanks,

Roger

Default Automated payment system

Yes, these automated payment and delivery systems can do exactly what you are looking for.

Google Checkout (excellent by the way) has an option that will accept payment and once the payment is confirmed, sends the user back to your system with a special code. Paypal has an automated payment system as well.

This way, your system can be programmed to allow the user to download the electronic product.

I have sold electronic products before, but ended up personally emailing the product in the end. Exactly how to program the entire system from purchase to delivery is something I have not done before.

You can create an eBook (PDF) that is password protected using Adobe Acrobat so that the item is read only. Printing, copying and other functions are disabled. It's automating this process, the process of creating a unique password for each user, that is the hard part. By formatting the PDF for each user, you'll have a good start at tracking down any violations.

If you have one password protected PDF for all users, then the process should be easy. If a buyer knows that his or her personal information (name, email transaction information, etc) is included in the document, then they are less likely to pass it along - or so I would imagine

Here is an example of a password protected ebook.
If you use a password of: Cure
You’ll be able to read only – try to copy the text and notice that you are stopped.
If you use a password of: NaturalCure
You’ll be able to do anything.

Here is the Example PDF is attached - look at the document properties.

Default Automated pages

Automated pages is what I use and they are easy to set up. You simply design a thank you page and send the user to that, then send them an email.

How to automate the entire process I am unsure of. I have not looked into this yet, but when I do, I'll document it. What would be nice, and I'm guessing that there is something out there like this, is a service that does everything for you.

Wish I could be more help on this one.

Regards,

Jim.

Default Why?

Jim,
You were writing... I have sold electronic products before, but ended up personally emailing the product in the end. Why did you decide to "hand" email you products?

Thanks,

Roger

Default Dynamic PDF

Look at the example PDF I referred to in the post above. It has the user's unique information in it and two passwords. If you use one password, you can read the content but cannot do anything else; however, if you use the other password, you have full rights.

I know of no program currently that will let me create such a pdf automagically by using scripts (dymanic pdf). There are scripts to create a pdf, but none that allow you to assign multiple passwords, etc.

So, my only option was to do it by hand.

Most people simply have one password for a pdf (the file never changes) and automating this is easy because it is just a static file.

It has been years since I looked into this, so there may very well be a dymanic pdf solution out there now.

Regards,

Jim.
