General Security

I probably could have found an answer to this elsewhere, but I just didn’t have any idea where to look, so suggestions are welcome.

Ok, what I want to know is what makes a computer safe or not? Is it the browser, the operating system, or the physical computer?

In other words, If I run Safari (no flaming) on Windows XP, do I still need anti-virus software?
If yes, what about if I’m running Windows on a mac computer?

  1. AMPC says:

What makes a computer safe is updating and patching, plus virus and malware software, but most importantly PAYING attention. Most virus and malware are installed by the user. Something pops up while your surfing the net and it tricks you into clicking yes or even worse you dont read what your clicking. Just paying attention and taking that extra time to acknowledge what your doing will save your ass most of the time. And yea you should run antivirus no matter what. Even a free one.
