Wordpress Speed Test Plugin

OK, it's not really a plugin, but it is just as easy!

To install the Cool looking Broadband Test (Flash version) on your Wordpress Blog, simply follow the instructions on that page.

For the Java Speed test (not the flash version with a speedometer), follow these instructions:

Here is how you put the free speed test utility found at Speed Test on your Wordpress blog.

First, grab the zip file and general speed test instructions found at the link above.

Unzip the .jar file and place it into your wordpress main (root or base directory)

Create a directory called downloads and place the speedtesting.zip file inside it.

* Turn off the Rich Text Editor in Wordpress by visiting Users, Personal Options and at the bottom of the page in the left hand corner you will see the box.

or, depending on your version of WP - Users, You Profile, and top left or lower corner you will see 'use visual editor when writing' (deselect it).

Create a post and paste the speed test applet code you found on the link above inside it.

That's it, your visitors now have a quality utility to test their internet speed. I should also say that this script monetizes well!

You may also want to change the width to something link 450 to fit inside your wordpress post or page.

Oh ya - don't forget to turn back on your rich text / visual editor once you know the speedtest is running.
