Convert WMV to SWF

I am looking to convert a WMV (windows media file) to a SWF (flash) file and have not been able to find any software or tools. I have found many swf to wmv conversion utilities, but that is not what I’m looking for.

Can you recommend a conversion tool? Is there something free on the internet that I can use? I would also like the ability to do a batch conversion of wmv to swf is possible.

Update: See Convert WMV to SWF

    Wow, good question!

You could visit google.com/video, sign up for an account, upload your video, wait an hour or so, then try to extract the resulting flash file or just let Google video host it for you.

For me, I convert the wmv file to avi format. You can use XP

How do I remove the audio from a WMV file using Windows Movie Maker? I looked everywhere and can’t find it, there is a mute but it is greyed out. I just need to remove the sound from the movie.

  3. AMPC says:

You can remove the sound from your wmv file by simply viewing in timeline mode rather than storyboard. Then, click on the plus and you’ll see the audio. To remove audio from your WMV file, just right click on the audio and choose mute. Save out the movie file (project) and you’re all set.

I found some interesting encoders and converters, but I have not yet tried any of them. These are freeware files have found a lot of Good utilities here.

To convert a WMV to a SWF file i can suggest this tool-VisiFly by visifly.com.
I know its not free(39.95 USD) but quality is great

I have used VisiFly and it is as buggy as they get. This is probably why they don’t have a 30 day trial.

I now use the google video method to convert my wmv files.

It’s strange. In the beginning I have checked Visifly trial and it worked fine for me just it left a watermark. Later I have purchised license and it converts my video to swf files with good quality. And it’s very simple and easy program and I like it.
    This is only my opinion.

Probably just my computer configuration that gave me probs with VisiFly.

You can try Video to Flash Converter Pro.. I think it’ll help you =)
btw, I’ve been using it for a long time & navn’t any problem with it….

I found the perfect free conversion program, it’s called SUPER (Simplified Universal Player Encoder & Renderer).

I did some research on this and found a link to the authors home page, which was extremely confusing and difficult to find the download. When I finally did find the wmv to flash conversion software, it was unavailable!

I found another site, but that site wanted $1.99 to download the free conversion software, so I skipped that as well!

I finally found this program after a load of searching. It’s called SUPER, short for Simplified Universal Player Encoder & Renderer and it does the exact same thing the other programs charge you for, for free!

Super supports a ton of file formats to play or encode (to & from) without any additional third party software.

Video format supported include: 3gp (Nokia, Siemens, Sony, Ericson) asf, avi (DivX, Xvid, MPEG4, MSmpeg4, etc..), fli, flc, flv (used in Flash), mpg (Mpeg I or Mpeg II), mov, mp4, ogg, qt, rm, str (Play Station), swf (Flash), viv, vob, wmv

Audio format supported include: ac3, amr, mp2, mp3, mp4, ogg, ra, wma

I dont think Super (from AVS) is free. I downloaded it and they want you to pay which ticks me off when I started thinking it was free – and there does not even seem to be a trial version – looks dodgey I am going to rip out its 68MB
