I have the latest upgrade from Java and scripting is enabled, but the test does not appear on the page. The rest of the page is in tact but just a grey area where the test should be.
My brother suggested this test and I’ve used it before but all of a sudden it stopped loading.
suggestions??
Thank you

Hello and welcome to the forum sbcla!
Drop me the url (PM or post) and I’ll tell you exactly what is going on with the free speed test.
Regards,
Jim.
here’s the url…
auditmypc.com/internet-speed-test.asp
thanks,
sbcla
Sorry,
I mean the url of the site with the speed test script you are working on – your page with the problem.
Regards,
Jim.
don’t mean to be glib, but I’m not understanding.
The url I gave you is where the problem exists. I’m simply trying to use your site to personally monitor an upgrade in bandwidth I purchased.
I click on to your site(auditmypc.com)
I click on "speed test"
the test does not load.
I also have a problem with loading the other tests that are at the bottom of the page.
I’m just worried that something is not configured correctly on my computer.
I’m kind of new to computers so I apologize if I seem inept.
sbcla
Sorry about that – I was thinking you were installing the free speed test we have on your site.
Can you tell me what version of Java you are using, your operating system and browser?
In Windows, the control panel should have a java icon, if you click on that, then about, you’ll see the version information. If you don’t see an icon, please let me know.
Regards,
Jim.
here is the info you requested.
Dell XPS 400
Windows XP Media Center Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 2
Java 2 Platform Standard Edition Version 1.5.0(build 1.5.0_11-b03)
SBCYahooDSL Elite
Just upgraded to the Elite and want to see if I’m getting the #’s SBCYahoo
promises.(they say up to 6MB download speed)
take care Jim

If you get time, can you try the test using a different browser?
If you are using IE, can you download Firefox and give it a shot? Same goes for Firefox, then IE.
Also – do you have a firewall that may be blocking the port being used?
The speed test uses TCP port 8500 to test packets.
Thanks!
Jim.
Jim, it was as simple as just using IE. SBC YAHOO is the problem. If I sign into SBC DSL,JAVA is screwed up. If I back out of it and just open up IE,without signing in,I’m fine and JAVA works.
Go figure.
thanks for your help and hope I didn’t have you scratching your head for nothing.
Joe
just sorry it took so long to get back to you. sometimes the things that are right in front of you,are the things you overlook.
Still puzzled as to why SBC won’t allow some JAVA functions. I get to use your site again in IE,so I’m glad for that.
Your site has my dowload speeds much lower than others
(I avg between 4.8M to 5.2 M per sec. your site:between 3.4 to 4.1M per)
upload speeds
(avg 654k your site: 786)
didn’t think speeds would differ that much.
Glad I have the site back !!
Best Regards,
SBCLA(Joe)
