I have run the sitemap generator, looks ok, export google xml file to my docs directory. but if i search for the file using any program , I cannot see it.
However if I start the generator and "open" the saved map file I can see it and load it.
I cannot gain access to copy the saved file.
I have tried using "open windows explorer as administrator" to no effect.
I am running Vista and IE 7
Hi Roy,
Sounds like your settings on Vista are for viewing certain files only. In XP, you simply browse to your folder, choose Tools, Folder Options, File Types or View and uncheck the Hide extensions for known file types.
It’s there in the directory, it’s just that your settings are preventing you from seeing it and other files.
When I’m on Vista next time, I’ll document it – OR – if you figure it out, please post the instructions here.

with IE 6 or 7 before generate, please click :
Tools ———> Internet Option ——> Security —-> uncheck Enable Protected Mode
it will be clear
