Bad HTTP response code (301) from Sitemap Builder v2.32

Hi there,

And, thanks for all your tools and your communications with me in the past. I appreciate you.

Okay, here’s my latest.

I’ve got a site of 50 typepad blogs each in a sub directory off the main domain.

When I ran the Site Mapping Tool v1.42 to create an HTML sitemap, it identified each one of those sub directories as "failed".

I decided to run the Sitemap Builder v2.32 to create my Google sitemap, and it gave me a little more information… it identified each one of those sub directories as "Bad HTTP response code (301)".

I’d really like the bots to find all my blogs from the main page. Any hints and tips on how to trouble shoot these errors?

Also, I read in another post that Yahoo is looking for .xml sitemaps now. Is that new? I was always under the impression that only Google was looking for the .xml sitemaps (where you could give Google a lot more information about the site) while Yahoo and the others were only capable of crawling the HTML sitemap. Is the Yahoo .xml sitemap format the same as Google or do you need to generate a separate .xml sitemap for each?

Last but not least, I’m pretty sure I’m on the ‘New Developments List’ but I haven’t received any message of some of the new tools you’ve mentioned in this forum. They sound fantastic. How can I get in on them?

Thanks in advance.

Hello and thanks for the kudos! I’d be more than happy to look at your blogs and see exactly what is going on. Send me a private message with your site(s) and once I have them, I’ll do some research.

There is now a standard XML format for sitemaps, Yahoo, Google and others are starting to use this to help index your pages.

My new web tool not only creates xml sitemaps, it also checks websites for errors, provides detailed reporting, server headers and more. It is just about ready to release, this week if all goes well, and will be released to those on the AuditMyPC.com new developments list first.

I want to make sure that the application is running as smooth as possible before I send it out to those on the new developments list; to that end, I have let a few visitors having issues test this out first.

You are more than welcome to use the tool, but keep in mind that I’m still adding the final touches to it and fine tuning the documentation.

I just sent you a private message with the location of the xml sitemap generator please don’t pass this out but do feel free to post any questions you have on this forum. Also, if you see anything that needs to be changed or improved, please let me know!

    Regards,

    Jim.

I ran the webtool on the site you gave me and it took a total of 100 seconds. The sitemap was produced, titles looked good and no errors found at all.

Let me know if there are others sites or if you find sites that are generating an error.

This webtool can create an XML sitemap that works with Google, Yahoo and any others that follow the standard sitemap format.

    Regards,

    Jim.
