Anonymous test wrong?

G’Day People,

I have used the anonymous test twice in recent days and have found that although the IP identification is correct the site map indicates a totally diferent location to mine. Like 800klms away.
The first time was Smithfield in Sydney and now Woy Woy on the central coast of NSW.
I am located in in the Northern Rivers area of NSW Lismore area.
Does this mean that Bigpond is doubling up on my account?
The reason I ask this question is that I have seen unprecedented usage on my account this month, in fact my account is 400MB over the 500MB allowed in only 10 days into the monthly period.
I run vista home premium, mcafee and do not believe that I have any trogans etc. on my pc.

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

  1. AMPC says:

The location reported is often mistaken for the location of your computer which is not the case. The location reported is the location of your IP address which may be far away from your home PC.

For example, my IP shows that I am 30 miles away from my current location. This is because my ISP connects me to the internet at that location (30 miles away).

    So, it is

By the way – I am moving this thread to computer help. This section of the forum fits it better.
