404 & 406 Errors – Can’t Find to Correct

I’ve created a sitemap for my website and I have 4 errors showing. I know I can clear them from the sitemap, but I also want to clear them from my site and there lies the problem.

I’ve followed your instructions and watched the video a number of times.

On one of the 404 errors, when I click the + every page on the site is listed. The error as I see it is that URL ends as follows: .com /www. I’ve searched my code and checked my "File Manager" on the server. The only thing that I find is in the file manager I have a file named "Public_html" and a file named "www". The "www" is a duplicaton of "Public_html". My question is: Is it the www file that may be causing the problem and if so, can I delete it without fouling up my entire website?

2nd – The other 3 errors are on specific pages, but I cannot find them to make the corrections.

I could use whatever suggestions or input you may have.

Thanks,
Alex

    Welcome to the forum Alex!

Don’t mess with the www and public directory, the problem is somewhere in your includes, etc.

It’s one of the errors that are easy to fix once you figure it out. What is the url of your site and I’ll take a look. If you don’t want to post the site publicly, simply click on AMPC and send me a private message.

You’re smart to be using the sitemap tool to find these errors and down the road, it will help you more than you know

    Best regards,

    Jim.

    Hi Jim,
Thanks for getting back to me. The website URL is: www.shoppingdelights.com.
I know that i could have just removed those pages on the sitemap, but I also want to correct the cause of the problem as well.

    Alex

    Hi Jim,
Have you had a chance to take a look at the cause of the errors that I have? If you haven’t I can understand. Thanks.

    Hello Alex,

I show about 1088 pages and it took about a minute or two for me.

As the scan finished, I clicked on the sitemap tab and scrolled down to entry 111 which shows a red dot next to failed and a 404 error. I then followed that row to the right and clicked the + under the In-l and it displayed 34 pages with red arrows that indicate all these pages have a reference to the error, in this case, the error is in your menu include file (or similar) and links to shoppingdelights.com/www. which is not valid.

On Line 703, the next error, I see what looks like some javascript that has been attached to your url making it invalid. I again scroll to the right, click on the + in the In-l column and see that only one file is linking to this invalid page, which is:
shoppingdelights.com/buy.com.html – So, buy.com.html has a invalid link that points to:
    shoppingdelights.com/%3Cobject%20classid=
